You're not going to notice that much of an increase in speed, but your applications will run more efficiently...

Tews is right it will not make you faster, but you will be able to go more things before you have to start use the page file. Laptop ram is pretty cheap. You probaly have two mem slots of y ou could buy 2gigs more you would have a much bigger cushion

    Good Luck

If your system runs out of physical memory, you start to cache applications off the hard drive and your system will slow down considerably. This is quite noticable with multiple large applications (i.e. MS Word, MS Excel, etc) running at the same time. With the addition of memory, this should raise your threshold before disk thrashing starts.

The principle of diminishing returns does apply here.

You will notice a substantial difference in your everyday computing experience when you upgrade from 512MB to 1.5GB.

There is no sustitute for RAM (except an SSD). Get 2GBs - they are so cheap and you will really like what you see.

I agree completely. Upgrading the laptop ram made a huge difference. On my laptop 4 gigs only cost 48$ US. well worth the price. If you tell us what laptop we can find you some prices
