    Please look at my process list


    Hi,
    In XP I had my process list down to 15 (primarily a gaming machine)

    If anyone has some advice on what processes I could kill in 7, please let me know!

    you can kill
    dwm.exe(but that will shutdown aero)
    wiptis.exe
    sidebar.exe
    searchIndex....exe
    wuaudt.exe(It will shutdown windows update)

    That's pretty lean.

    If your goal is to max RAM and not OS responsivenes, also disable readyboost and superfetch servce.

    Yeah, I know. I am just breathing the bozone. If the OP wants lean instead of smooth and stable...

    But Zidane is correct. The OS is smarter than us.

    Thanks for replying. I can't find any definitive info on what atieclxx and atiesrxx is. I mean , I know it's associated w/ my graphics cards but ...

    AMD External Event ....

    It's the ATI hot key thing. I thought you gamers needed that one, though. Try it.
