Windows Experience Index Number way too low!!!!

I have an Asus G73SW Republic of Gamers laptop. Systems specs are an i7 2630QM 2.0ghz cpu, 16GB of ram, 1TB and 500GB, Nvidia GeForce 460m 1.5g of mem. My question is looking at other people that have the same machine are rating at around 7 on the processor part of the WEI, but I am rating a 4.7!!!!! I have also seen many machines at work that have far lower processing power that rate a higher score than I do. I'm concerned that there may be an issue with my processor. Any ideas?

Hello Vaporlockv2 Welcome to the Seven Forums!

The WEI in actuality can be seen as a joke played on the user by MS since it is far from an accurate system diagnostic and benchmarking utility! With the board maxed out here at 16gb it still only shows 7.5 out of the supposedly highest 7.9.

The same for the cpu. All hardwares in perfect working and still never reaching the highest on the WEI chart shows what? An estimated but not actual value.

Try this tutorial.> Windows Experience Index - Reset

    Use Option One.

This will delete and reset the old WEI scores and will automatically run WEI again.

Sometimes the WEI files get corrupted or it just doesn't run the WEI properly.
    This usually fixes the problem.
Let us know if it works.

Sometimes closing all open programs helps such as your browser and Outlook etc. while running the WEI.

The Intel Diagnostics Tool will check out your CPU.

Run some 3rd party benchmark software if you are still bothered.

Also, make sure you aren't throttling the CPU with power options. If you purchased a gaming laptop, you're probably running with the "high performance" power plan when playing anything intensive, so make sure that's also your power plan when you run the WEI test.

Another item to add here would be seeing if the virtualization support is enabled or disabled in the bios setup. Any effect on scoring that would have would be for the cpu.

Mine was better then I thought as it turns out. The 7.5 on memory was already known while the 7.2 for both cpu(one model below the Phenom II X4 980 fastest stock now discontinued) and the video including the gaming video as well. Note the video card is only a mid range 1tb card(MSI HD Radeon 5750) while the drives still see the 5.9 as always.

The likely way to see the highest score with the WEI would be booting up in safe mode where you know everything else is already on the disabled list and not even loaded into ram until you restart normally again!
