Advanced boot option doesn't show the option "repair your computer"!

    Hey,
I have a HP Pavilion notebook. A bit older I think. It had built in windows Vista Home Premium. Somehow my hard disk crashed and I bought a new one. I installed windows 7 ultimate 32 bit and updated to service pack 1. I made a system image using windows default recovery console. Everything was fine. But today I needed to restore my computer to a previous restore point. Every time I press F8 to get to the advanced boot option I see everything is okay except the "repair your computer" option. Somehow the "repair your computer" option disappeared. I tried ctrl+F11 button and the F11 button too. F11 button worked for my previous vista home premium but for Win-7 it's the F8 key. Can anyone help me with this please? How may I get the "repair your computer" option back? Is there any way to edit advanced to boot option to get that option back? I would be needing it in case of system image recovery. Please I don't want to reinstall the O/S once again. Please somebody help me.

On my clean OS install, the "repair your computer" option also does not appear in the F8 Advanced Boot Options list.
The option does appear on my ACER PC.

You can access this option by booting from a System Repair CD/DVD. A system repair CD is a must have.

I made a system image using windows default recovery console.
A system image can only be made from within standard win7!

Why revert back in time using a restore point? If you can boot into win7 you can perform a system restore anyway!
What is that state of win7 now, so I can give you instructions what to do

Let me confirm that this is your main question.
You obviously have successfully made an image, presumably using the Windows Backup & Restore window.
It would be interesting if anyone could shed light on why "Repair your Computer" option does not appear with some/all clean installs.

Personally, I never rely on restore points. They have let me down so I just use image restores.

reagentc/info (tells you about the bootmenu and actual winre)
reagentc/disable (removes it from boot menu)
reagentc/enable (adds it from boot menu)

    Which one fails?
Do it form within Elevated Command Prompt

@ mjf... you are right... That is my main question. If I do something stupid enough to make my pc crazy only then I use complete system image restore.

@Kaktussoft... firstly I am sorry because I made a mistake in my post. This is because I am not an expert user and I hardly understand those techie terms. Any way in your last comment you mentioned few commands. What are those for? To enable or disable "repair your computer" option in the advanced boot menu?

@Kaktussoft... thanks a lot. I applied reagentc/enable to enable it and it works. but you probably won't believe me that when I highlight repair your computer and hit enter nothing happens. Just windows start normally. I tried twice and got the same result.

In elevated command prompt (told you how to come there)

    Code:
    bcdedit/enum all
    post output

If Repair console is not on the F8 Advanced Boot tools menu we can help you replace it. To do the necessary Repairs now use System Recovery Options from the Win7 DVD or Repair CD.

System Restore is not the same as running HP's F11 Factory Recovery. F11 restores the PC to Factory condition and wipes out everything in the process.

What is it exactly that you need to repair?

Have you ever done a Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 which is a superior install without the huge load of HP bloatware and duplicate utilities? We can help you get it perfect.
