Windows 7: Computer slow at startup

30 Sep 2012   #11

I use Malwarebytes Pro.. it has some benefits for sure to run full time from what I have seen it block... And I run Microsoft Security Essentials too.

I've have had a performance issue that kept showing up in the error logs, been a while so I forget exacts .... but it was solved after making them ignore each others main executables and mostly the mbam service. Win7 64 .. so things are in both program dirs.

I have never heard or seen a problem running the 2 together, unless one is using a keygen for MWB Pro, then MSE will pick it up. Other than that, they run well together and will pretty much keep you covered under most normal circumstances.

When you get them installed and updated, you can google what settings can be changed if you wish. Restart, go into "Safe Mode" and then perform scans with each program. That will root out 98% of the bad stuff.
I wouldn't suggest installing the two anti-virus programs at the same time. due to the problems which usually arise with two anti-viruses present on the same system. Either install one and stay with it, or install one, scan with AV, uninstall and reinstall the other AV.

Many, many people use Microsoft Security Essentials in conjunction with MWB with no problems. The don't conflict like dual AV programs. It's the same regimen as when people used to use AVG Anti-virus and Spybot-Search and Destroy.
Far as i know it's not suggested to have two anti virus programs.

I have scanned with smart security and with malwarebytes-anti malware and they didn't find anything, the system is clean. I have noticed that now it's a little bit faster than was it in early days.
I'll try with microsoft essentials.

Once again, MSE is your Antivirus program and MWB is your Antimalware program. It is not the same as having 2 AV programs. I have personally ran them together since they came out, and all of the computers I am responsible for run both of them.

Also, did you update the programs completely and then run them in Safe Mode?
