CPU activity at 20% after cloning a new hard drive

Last night I used Acronis to clone off a brand new 1Tb drive. All went well and I fired it up this morning. The only thing I noticed is that my CPU activity is at about 20%. Is this normal? I looked at the resources monitor for CPU and it says its doing deferred procedure calls for the 20%. Last time this happened it went away after several hours.

My guess would be it is just Windows doing some housekeeping on the new drive and it is temporary.

If it is still doing the same thing a week from now, then I'd look at it more closely.

Well if it doesn't stop by tomorrow, or sooner, then it may be something else.

    Oh no!

Well its something else. I just found out that my dual core i5 only has one core running at 100% and the other about 1%. What could this mean? I have updated the BIOS and checked the CPU settings. All looks good. I have no idea how to approach this issue.

Tried the drivers in device manager jb? and take a look in msconfig in the boot section mate change it to to two cores if it is one - long shot but worth a try.

Take a look with Speccy too it might show up something amiss

    Problem Solved :)

Problem solved!! I removed the cpu and cleaned all contacts with alcohol. replaced and used Arctic Silver paste. All is well now. I also cleaned my RAM contacts. They all showed being dirty.
