I'll wait until tomorrow and if no one else have any suggestions I'll do a Repair Install.

I gave you several specific suggestions from Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7 to which you never replied. What about the Clean Boot? Repeat errors in logs? Check for Solutions to Problems? These are the most basic steps for a problem such as yours.

If they don't help then I'd agree Repair Install would be the next step with unfixable System Files. You would then be fairly assured that the problem isn't in the OS, except if some possible corrupt settings from programs are passed through the Repair Install. This can be dealt with now by turning off all freeloaders at boot except your AV which works there.

I'm sorry, I completely forgot to reply to you.

The clean boot didn't help. I found some repeating errors in the logs but nothing that fixed boot time problem. The only problem in Solutions was that I haven't made a backup in a while. (Probably not the cause, right?)

I apologize again for not replying.

No prob. Then Repair Install is probably the next stop, should solve anything having to do with the OS unless it passes back through a corrupt program setting, or the problem exists in bad boot code which we often see here.

If the Repair Install doesn't solve the problem, would the next step be a clean reinstall?

Yes, first wipe the HD with Diskpart Clean Command.

Then follow these steps to obtain and maintain a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

I found the problem! The SATA cable going from my CD/DVD drive(!) to the motherboard was faulty and when I switched it the computer booted up like a charm in less than 25 seconds.

    I'm both happy and embarrassed.

    Thanks for your help everybody!

Well done for following the Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7:

    10. Check all cabling is securely connected and in good condition, try reinstalling suspect hardware, swap RAM sticks, unplug extra HD's, peripherals, CD/DVD drive to see if problems disappear. Unplug or remove any floppy drive.
