According to GSkill it's iffy. One may get a 3570 capable of 2400MHz with no sweat while a particular 3770 may not run over 213MHz. It's really down to the binning one gets on the CPU.
Ones near the center of the wafer they come from are the best and become better i7's. Farther towards the edge you get i5's and i3's, all from the same wafer. They can fuse parts of the "lower grade" chips so they conform to their specs.
The chips on a DIMM are similar, which is why a large matched 2 piece set is more expensive than two sets of a smaller amount but equal the total of the two piece set.
