Right then:
This is my G.Skill DDR3-1600MHz OC'ed to 1866MHz via ASRock's BIOS - only XMP 1.2 enabled and DDR3 frequency upped to 1866. No change to voltage or timings.
What think you?
System seems to be pretty stable so far in normal operations. No tests run, though.
New BIOS, more RAM compatibility. Or so I'd hoped..
This is what I'm aiming to make stable: (Maybe 35K if I can nut out the secret)
But what a bugger it is. Im still getting the same stable speed of 31K despite going from 2400mhz to 2666mhz. So far I've been focusing on the DRAM clock.
On Auto it equates to 12 I think, yet on manual it's less stable Range is 1-14, so yeah - on the loose side.
Any lower than 9 and it wont boot and is very unstable. 11 seems to be the sweet spot if it can be tamed. Also playing with the transmitter/receiver slews to see if they're helping. They helped running at 11 but I think they need to run much looser than 3/5.
Might be worth dropping back to 2400mhz and tightening the dram clock and do it that way. But I wanna focus on 2666mhz since that's what I bought and can finally run them at (despite no performance increase lol)
That's a pretty impressive speed anyway Patrick.
I get the feeling anything over 2400mhz is pushing the 3770k memory controller a bit far.
I managed to run my 2400mhz ram at 2600mhz iirc but the winsat score did not increase at all.
Paul.
Yeah 31K is nothing to be sneezed at. It merely inspires the 'chase' lol
The memory controller and the extra volts for vccio/vcsaa is also a bit of temp limiter.
Pat, I've not heard of transmitter/receiver slews, but that was an excellent winsat run mate.
I get teary-eyed if I manage to hit 29+.
I think I just found the most expensive 8GB of Ram I have ever seen, £400 It is quite fast but come on that works out to £200 per 4GB stick! You could buy 2 x GTX 760s for the price of this kit lol
Not sure how long this link will work for so I will post specs too - Avexir Core Extreme Orange Series 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-22800C12 3000MHz Dual Channel Memory Kit (AVD3U30001204G-2CIO) - Orange Light [AVD3U30001204G-2CIO]
