My experience is unless you overclock the ram to 1866, you won't get a 7.9. 7.9 seems to be reserved for 1866 and higher. I think I have run every speed of ram they make between 1333 and 2400, and 1866 is the magic number, it seems to me.

I suspect quad channel ram might score 7.9 @ 1600MHz.

I will try it out tomorrow.
My 8Gb of 1600 Vengeance has always got a 7.9 apart from with my 8350 which was 7.8.

That's some real heavy numbers for Dual channel there Doug, the highest I have seen in fact. I think the most I had with Dual channel was around 32,000 with my 2400MHz ram. Do you think it's to do with the fact you are using Windows 8?

There we go then, 7.9 is possible with 1600MHz. Nice one mate

It was one of those weird runs like Gary showed earlier.

Oh ok, It just looked more convincing as you had 3 "rogue" speeds in a row :)

Yeah after I saw the first one I thought it would change. Here is a normal run at 1866. More believable numbers.

My 3770K with 2400 RAM just breaks the 31,000 Mbs mark.

Mine too, Gary. Conventional wisdom is that WEI does not take the amount of ram into consideration. I don't think that is the case and some of the scores and numbers, seem to bear that out. Plus, personal experience. I had 4X4GB of 2133 ram installed in a machine. When I built another, I took 2 X4GB out for the other machine. When I took the 8 GB out, my winsat score (which is used for the WEI score) went down 1000 points.
