    Why don't all files go to the recycle bin?

    I think that it is that Windows prompts me to move items from the recycle bin, whilst it deletes them permanently from a mapped drive. So if I delete a file on a mapped drive, why doesn't it move the items to the server's recycle bin?

    I accidentally deleted files on another server which has a mapped drive.

    What you describe is by design. Visit the following site and review the post from "lostxtsol" for a workaround;

    Files deleting over the Network /share drive is not going to the recycle bin it permanently delete the file but deleting from local drive is normaly going to recycle Bin !
