I gotta hp media center pc m7067c and im wondering:
What cpu can i upgrade to? I mean come on intel pentium is not enough
i have a socket cpu meaning the fan is right on top of it :O
and i been looking at the intel website and i searched up intel core 3 and figured out it was socket cpu. is that compatible with my pc?

To help us help you would you please add your systems specs? Here's how: System Info - See Your System Specs
Under System Manufacturer/Model Number add whether it is a desktop or laptop and whether self built.
Log in to Seven Forums and you will be able to transfer the info directly to the specs page in your profile from within the System Info app.

whats a intel socket?
According to what i know i have a socket cpu and my current cpu is intel pentuim 4 :P the oldies.
So i can get a intel core 3 and have no problems ?

An Intel socket is what an Intel CPU fits in mate. DDR thingy for RAM?!? When you're serious perhaps someone can help you.
Please do the step 7 of the tutorial linked to upload your full specs automatically. You are too clueless about computers to provide decent info for us to answer your question.

Socket: LGA775
Supports processor up to 3.4 GHz
Supports Intel Pentium 4 HT processors
800 MHz front-side bus
This page from intel's site (processor manufacturer) lists the processors that fit.
They are all single-core processors. They have Hyperthreading so they appear as dual cores to the programs, and perform marginally better than single-cores without hyperthreading.
They all suck and being so old they are even hard to find. I advise to buy a new PC.
Althugh if you just use it as media center PC (as it was intended to be used) it isn't so bad.

so i cant get a new cpu? I looked on google images and saw intel core i7 as a socket cpu.
Oh well i guess the only thing i really need to do is upgrade ram. I play minecraft on it and its not so bad!

There are different kinds of sockets (here a list of the various kinds). More powerful processors need bigger sockets. Your socket is too small for even an i3, go figure a i7.
And even if the socket did fit, the motherboard would have to state to be compatible with that particular processor, as the chips on the board must be designed to talk with that processor.
Forget an upgrade. The way you imagine you would need a new mobo, new CPU, new PSU new Dimms and the while 9 yards. It is cheaper to buy a new PC.
All processors fit into a "socket". There are different sockets, such as Socket 775, Socket 1155, Socket 1156, Socket 1366, Socket 2011 and so on and so forth. If you have a Socket 775 motherboard, you will have to find a CPU that is socket 775. You can't put a Socket 1155 CPU in a Socket 775 motherboard........it just don't work like that. I would either live with what you have, or save up and buy an entirely new system. Just as whs said in the post above, by the time you upgrade that system, you've spent as much as a brand new system and don't have the performance to show for it.

I read the list and my cpu socket is LGA 775,
so does that mean my computer is compatible with intel xeon?
(im not giving up yet. IM gonna find a cheap intel proccesor. I dont feel like buying a new computer although you guys tell me to :P)
