Unusual amount of Ram being used.Help please

I have a 4gb of ram that runs windows 7 (64 bit) Dell laptop. Now my problem is that my Ram is being used up when i'm doing nothing. I noticed it a yesterday. So i disabled alot of start up programs and restarted my pc. And to see that about roughly 1.25 gb of ram was used after the boot. Nothing was running. I find this a lot of ram to be used up when nothing big is running. When i open google chrome (only have about 3 extensions running) and it would go up to about 1.45 - 1.75 gb of ram. Again nothing else is running just chrome. I ran a virus scan , a malware bytes scan and even a combofix scan. None of the scans found anything wrong.

I can't even seem to play my game. I get about 20 fps on it and drops to about 7. Before i would have around 45-60 fps. So i'm wondering why this is happening. Am i infected by a virus? This problem occured about maybe 2 days ago, i don't think i downloaded anything that would have done this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is absolutely normal. You are probably used to the old XP nums - but those days are over. Windows 7 does an excellent job managing RAM. Just let it do the job.

Disabling useless startups was a good move though.

Here is my Resource Monitor for comparison. I have only 1 IE tab (the forum) running.

Chrome isn't the lightweight little browser it was when first released. It's every bit as memory hungry as firefox now.

That's OK. Chrome is known as a big RAM user. You worry too much. Use the IE.
