Need advice on cpu check. Huge drop in wei score. Perplexed.

Was looking at another thread earlier and just as a lark reran my wei index. Imagine my surprise when my processor score went from this Need advice on cpu check. Huge drop in wei score. Perplexed.-capture77.jpg to this Need advice on cpu check. Huge drop in wei score. Perplexed.-capture78.jpg!

I ran the intel cpu diagnostic tool and it came up as a "Pass". Any ideas or suggestions? I just feel that even a mid-range i7 like mine should be rated a little higher, lol. (and WAS until now) From 7.5 to a 4.6 is astonishing to me. Would appreciate any and all feedback as always as I'm perplexed to say the least.

This might be a case of Microsoft arbitrarily adjusting the WEI scores, especially if it's been a while since you last ran the test.

The Windows Experience Index is designed to accommodate advances in computer technology. As hardware speed and performance improve, higher score ranges will be enabled. The standards for each level of the index generally stay the same. However, in some cases, new tests might be developed that can result in lower scores.
What is the Windows Experience Index?

    Hi,

The CPU assessment in part depends on the memory assessment.

    Try running

    Code:
    winsat cpu
    winsat mem
    winsat cpuformal
from an elevated command prompt to examine the individual components of the CPU assessment.

    Regards,
    Golden

well here is mine with a intel core2duo running at 2.13Ghz

seems i have a few different scores than you...

Seems your encryption 1 and 2 are high and your SHA1 Hash is way low? Not sure what all this means, but maybe can shed some light...

Guess I made some setting changes while working with a new office suite and throttled down my poor old machine.

Now next weekend I'll be installing a ssd and can see about upping that 5.9.

Oh..... marsmimar, just a check on your machines abilities. Doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things I guess but like my scores to be as high as possible

I was running a Western Digital Raptor 150GB drive that runs at 10,000 rpm and had an "experience" index of only 5.9 for the primary hard disk. When I changed that to a SanDisk "Extreme" SSD, it went to 7.1. But, and this is more important, from a fresh boot my Photoshop CS6.0 loads in about one second. And from the time the BIOS quits initializing and Windows starts loading, on a normal boot (i.e., one where some MS patches are not completing their load) it takes 15-18 seconds before I'm ready to go. Best $100 I ever spent!
