No problem, I have asked for some assistance on this as i am running out of ideas.
Im starting to lean towards Graphics Card hardware issues.

    Just a thought:

Go to Start> computer > at the top click System properties, in the left pane click Device manager and tell me if everything looks ok in there, no yellow exclimation marks etc

    cheers

    or the display itself.
    Go to:

Start> computer > at the top click System properties, in the left pane click Device manager.

Under display select your card, right click and disable, reboot your computer in normal mode.
Now see if the problem exsits and let me know?

Also please check your ATI Radeon HD 5450 card is seated properly and all cables, connectors are secure.
    cheers

Yes had already done the first part of this. So PC works without the CCC - what does it do then?

    Hi,

    Sorry, not following,

    Done first part?
Start> computer > at the top click System properties, in the left pane click Device manager.

Under display select your card, right click and disable, reboot your computer in normal mode.

I assume you mean that? :)

So is your Pc working fine without the CCC installed? Issues have disappeared or do you still have "fuzzy" problems?

ATI CCc is a software package that gives you more control over your ATI video card.
Catalyst Control would come in handy if your a graphics artist that needs to match colors or
tweak video output etc or gamer.
For the average user, it's rather useless and a lot of overhead.

    Thanks

All looking good - 24 hours with no crash as opposed to say a dozen times a day before so looks like we're sorted! Many thanks for your help.
