Slow Boot Up

Hi thanks for replying. I haven't tried that yet, but will tomorrow. Im setting up my dad's pc for him and so wont be back there till tomorrow at the earliest. Iv done a clean install for him and application launches, shutdown etc are faster now except for his boot up time which is noticeably slower.

Before when windows booted the orbs would disappear before making a flag but now they merge,make the flag and pulse for a little while. If i could just find the annoying service or application that's causing this that would be great.

Its probably a driver or system setting iv got to change. I just cant make any sense of windows performance toolkit to know what the problem is. Bring back BootVis Microsoft, it was soo much easier to understand.

What kind of hardware are you referring to with the slow bootup?

From personal experience, I found that an issue with other drives being either plugged into an incorrect/malfuctioning SATA port, or that the SATA cables needed replacing- either one could cause or contribute to a seriously slowed boot.

His specs are an i3-3225 cpu, 1600mhz cl8 ram and 64gb crucial m4 ssd. Hes still getting a decent boot up time but it was about half the time before i reinstalled everything for him woops. Il do the msconfig stuff tomorrow and see if there is a difference. From looking at the graphs which i dont fully understand there seems to be a 10 second gap where there is no cpu activity at all.

Meanwhile establish a Clean Boot, check the logs for repeat errors and clues, utilize System Resources to solve problems, Generate a System Health Report, etc from Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7
