My guess for that cpu would be around 7.5, even the 6 core $1000 cpu's only score 7.8 bud.

Yeah I'll double check it tomorrow, I've obviously remembered it wrong.

7.9 is the max for everything running on Win 7 except the CPU; that is only 7.8. The only way to get higher scored is to run Win 8. Win 8.1 has dropped the WEI; rumor has it that it was because the Surface scores were down in the fives.

Because windows 8 does not have aero, thus reducing the need to have a higher windows experience index.
Also windows experience index was never used the way Microsoft wanted it to be. Originally they wanted software with base scores on them so that people could easily know if they could run a program or not.
Great idea IMHO. Developers never warmed up to it though, so it never happened. Windows experience index kinda has been just sitting there for years, not even worth looking at because it cannot do what it was meant for.

About 7.8 being the highest you can get for CPU on windows 7, are you sure? It says all parts can get a maximum score of 7.9 in windows help.

Theoretically, you can get a max score of 7.9 in Windows 7 in every category. Problem is, I've never seen ANY CPU get more than a 7.8. Dual Xeons get a 7.8.......that should put it in perspective.

Between registry hacks and photoshop, yes, anybody can score a 7.9 for the CPU.

Still waiting on that. If dual 8-core Xeons won't score a 7.9, I don't know what will lol
