thats true.. though you can never keep with technology. by the time i get all the parts together, it might be another year or two down the road and SSDs will probably will have fallen in price and increased in speed and capacity.
just curious, if i keep my hard drive all the way up till the next build, i can use a hard drive cloning software to copy all my stuff, OS and all, to my new SSD right? there won't be driver issues? i mean, a hard drive doesn't need software for it to work...
The short answer is yes you can. The long answer is it is always better to start off with a clean install, but you can clone you current drive to an SSD as long as the current drive is the same size or smaller than the SSD. The only issue you may have is alignment. SSDs use a different alignment than mechanical drives and many programs don't align it properly. But there are some good programs that do it very well.
oops.. my current drive is 1TB hahahahaa!!
i think 1TB SSDs won't be around just yet
Oh cont-rare:
OCZ Octane Series - Solid state drive - 1 TB - internal - 2.5 - SATA-600 - buffer: 512 MB at TigerDirect.com
Just whip out the AMEX Black ! lol
D'OH!
too bad i cant afford a $2000 hard drive LOL
They do make 1+ TB hard drives though.......which is all you need if you pair it up with a 128/256GB SSD
