He may not be able to add more RAM but he could swap out his present RAM for RAM that has better timings than his Corsairs have. He might even pick up a point on his WEI. My RAM is 9-9-9-24 @ 1600MHz and my WEI for memory is 7.9. However, now is a lousy time to buy RAM; prices have gone up through the roof.
I don`t think going from 10-10-10-27 to 9-9-9-24 would be worth the coin, but I was looking at these for the faster speed, but as you mention the prices are through the roof. In less then 3 weeks it went from $160 to $185

And if I put in new ram, that`s still considered adding ram, correct

Maybe I should remove The Iron Maiden and put HasRAM as Bill suggested

That would have been alcohol abuse!

Intensive photo and video editing will easily use that much RAM. VMs appreciate extra RAM. Multitasking can eat RAM for breakfast. I haven't fully used my 32GB (yet) but I have peaked on occasion slightly over 16GB while running scans with Avast, MBAM, SAS, and Spybot, all at the same time. Had I tried that on any past computer, it would have grown legs and ran off screaming in horror. I've gone over 8GB while mass editing photos.

I'm sure professional editing can get into that much RAM usage, hence why Socket 2011 can handle much more, but I'd try to find some other place to spend the money if it were me. I've never done a bit of photo work, but I have messed around with some video editing and I've never used more than 8GB. The problem is, if you EVER use more than 16GB you'll feel it immediately, and to fix that you have to step up to 32GB. Most people grossly overestimate their RAM usage lol.

I remember seeing someone who posted (not this site) that 24 GB RAM being used while editing videos and jpeg (eg. native AVCHDs) on Adobe After effects. But having lots of RAM doesn't have any drawbacks. I want one for my laptop if the motherboard supports it.

The only drawback to a bunch of RAM is the price vs return. With how expensive RAM is now the money would be better spent on other components. But, if you need it, there's no way around it.

I know I didn`t need it, but those 2 empty slots started getting to me, and I`ve waited long enough to get them.

I just had to Add Ram

The prices just kept on gonig up and up, so when I saw I could get the other 16 gigs for $139 total, I grabbed them.

Now my rig is pretty much complete, I may add another 760, and a larger ssd.

Here's my latest wei score. The GX 780 didn't change anything as the GTX 560 Ti already had a 7.9 score.
