It helps to be as cheap as I am when trying to resist upgrading (said the woman who just bought a 500GB SSD to upgrade her notebook).
The notebook has room for only one drive, 250GB would have been just barely big enough to hold everything I keep on it, and 250GB would have left me with no room to expand. I also got lucky and got it on sale.
