Thought I'd post this here for curiosity/comparisons sake....

This is my Windows 8.1 WEI score. Windows 8/8.1 no longer shows a WEI score; however, it can be accessed through the OS itself - command prompt - Winsat formal -restart clean, or through third party software such as Winaero. Brink has a tutorial here - Windows Experience Index - Update or Refresh WEI Score in Windows 8

Anyway since I'm no longer running Windows 7, here's my 8.1 score....

Bit surprised to see it that low considering Windows 8.1 goes up to 9.9. I'm even a bit more surprised that it's the SSD drive that's holding me back, considering it's a Samsung 840 Pro running in Rapid Mode.

I'm wondering what it takes to get a 9, let alone a 9.9

Drew, that may be why they hid it in 8/8.1. It won't work right.

Well I'm not sure if it's working right, or it's too darn demanding. I'm not even sure Watson makes the grade here

WEI score adapts to new technology that is not yet available yet as well. For example, windows 7 top score is 7.9 when it came out. But nothing could come close to that score then.

So It does make sense, because the score is 9.9 which leaves room for more faster tech.

emmm.... I kind of disagree. If you look at some of the earlier Windows 7 WEI scores, they were up around 7ish. The thing that were keeping them down for the most part was the hard drive scores.

And let's not forget, the precursor to Windows 7 WEI was Vista, so that by the time 7 came out, the tech was pretty out there to darn near max 7's WEI score sans the hard drive I mentioned - SSD's weren't so prevalent, and most mechanical drives maxed out at 5.9.

BTW this was my Windows 7 WEI score from 3 years ago...

And I maxed out Vista's score back in 2008 - Window Experience Index Scores - Page 65 :)

Well done, Dude. I think that's a pretty good score for Windows 8, just for some reason I think you like your Windows 7 score better. I had Windows 8 on this computer at one time, now it's in a VM, but when I had it installed, I was really surprised how low my 8 WEI was. I felt like, what the heck do you want?. At the time, I was just playing around, and had 2 256GB 840 Pros in Raid 0 and couldn't max the hard drive score. I thought you have to be kidding.
