    Okay I am different.
What I count for boot time is from when I push the button until I can use the desktop.
On my system in my specs that is 40 seconds. I realize part of that time is bios and part is Windows 7. Shut down time is 4 to 5 seconds.

    UEFI bios.

It may be because my RMA motherboard has a bunch of Xeon stuff.
This is only half of them. The motherboard I sent back didn't have all that Xeon stuff.

According to Asus site my bios should be 4210 but it will not work with that bios.
They sent back a motherboard with bios 4502 which is Xeon bios and it works great.

Thanks Gene, I have never done a UEFI install, but we are getting more and more questions about it here. My next install, I may try one just to get some experience with it and gain a little more knowledge about it.
The only advantage I have gathered about not having the 100mg partition is Macrium imaging :/
No telling how uefi would effect you oc'ers y'all do so much tweaking via bios :/

Not quite sure what you are driving at. What does a 100 MB partition have to do with anything?

    uefi is the 100mg partition
I'm not going to pretend to understand any of this all I was saying is the Free version of Macrium does not image the 100mg partition so it's an extra step in backup imaging,
    Cheers.

Actually, UEFI replaces BIOS and resides on the MOBO, same as BIOS did. UEFI is not all that mysterious, just a bit different and more detailed than BIOS. If new to it, just RTFM.

And when I was still using Macrium Reflect Free (I use Pro now), it was able to image the 100MB partition along with the C: partition (btw, Reflect is the name of the software and Macrium is the name of the company that makes Reflect).

There is more to EFI than just the UEFI "BIOS" interface that you see - that just scratches the surface. EFI is a whole new way of booting Windows and providing drivers for the "BIOS", and it uses a different boot loader to boot up windows.

You are talking about the 100MB MBR based basic partition for BIOS booting windows? This separate 100MB isn't required to boot for a MBR/BIOS based boot, you can just have one partition that is the system and boot partition as you well know

For an EFI boot, there is a required 100MB FAT32 partition that has a new partition type called EFI (as opposed to primary or reserved). The disk also has to be GPT instead of MBR. You have to create an EFI partition and format it FAT32. The new EFI bootloader goes in this system partition.

When you do an EFI boot to windows, it is much faster in handing off to Windows than an MBR/BIOS based boot.

    Understanding Disk Partitions

What you have is a UEFI "BIOS" - you are booting in a BIOS compatibility mode, not EFI.
