    Weird sfc/ scannow behavior

I have run that command a thoulsand times (always with administrator privileges, of course), from my personal account and also from the administrator one, I have done it from the safe mode, and I've also checked for malware with ESET and Malware Bytes. I have run chkdsk. I have run a defrag. Nothing. I always get the same result: some corrupts files were found but sfc was unable to repair them. Check CBS.log for more info. Well, I've done the sfcdetails.txt trick every single time after the sfc check and also after a reboot. Not a single clue of any corrupt file.

But here's the funny thing: if I run sfc at boot following this guide -https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/139810-sfc-scannow-run-command-prompt-boot.html- sfc reports no errors at all. And yes, I'm putting the right device letter.

I'm a computer technician but I'm running out of ideas here.

    What else can I do?

    My system: Win7 x64 Ultimate SP1.

And no, I don't have any restore points, and I don't wanna format.

    Thanks.

Take a read through this. It just might be what you are looking for.

    Repair Install

    Information
This will show you how to do a repair install (aka: in-place upgrade install) to fix your currently installed Windows 7 and preserve your user accounts, data, programs, and system drivers.

I have done a repair install like 30 times, it all goes well except in the very last part, at the last boot, then I get the initializing services windows and then I get an error: windows could not complete the installation. Please reboot and restart the installation. Which is also funny, because I'm using the same dvd I used a few months ago for another repair install on the same system and on the same PC (same hardware). The dvd is Win7 x64 Ultimate SP1, as my system.

Well now that interesting 30 times. What is the need for all those repair and installs? What has been causing the need for all the repair and installs?

I mean, I've TRIED 30 times, with NO success. The truth is that the repair install hasn't been correctly applied at all, so we could say that I have not done that. Only that one time several months ago. Every time that I try now I get that error.

Where did you get the Windows 7 Ultimate disc or how did you make it.
Sounds like a faulty disc or burn. Do you get any fault codes.

No, no codes at all. It is NOT the disk, you can believe me here. Two obvious and logical reasons:

1: The disk has been used before several times.

2: Yes, the disk may be scratched now (it is not the case) or corrupt, just by the passing of the days, but I've also checked with two, yes, two, not one, dvd images from the internet and the same thing always happens, repair install does not complete successfully and sfc at boot shows no errors (when there actually are, obviously).

So I clearly see three things here:

Something is wrong with my system. Doing sfc repairs nothing.
Doing sfc at boot results shows no errors, and this is obviously wrong.
    A repair install fails.

And that's my loop. So I eighter need help reparing my system or repairing the repair install.

    Thanks.

I'm no computer tech so my suggestions will probably sound lame but here goes. Try using the hard drive manufactures program for testing the drive. I would also recommend removing all things not needed. Other hard drives, printers, ect. Have you ever received an error code?
At this point can you get into your system. Safe Mode or Normal?
If so could we see one of these.

It might help one of the computer tech that will come along.

I've run chkdsk a few times so I guess is not the disk. Also, from a Linux distro, the HDD doesn't seem wrong or anything. As for unplug the unneeded, I actually did that, I unplugged all the usbs and also all the other drives. Even 4 usb interfaces I attached to the motherboard last week.

I can access in both ways, but lately the system is crashing (freezing) very often, so I actually have a little hurry :S

    Hi,

Lets have a look at the crash DMP files, and see if we find anything. Follow the steps outlined below, and post your information back here in this thread:
