Corrupt files in System File Checker - now what?

    Hello,

In trying to fix a still unsolved problem with my WLAN network connection (detailed here, if relevant: WLAN issue - WiFi can't connect - Tech Support Guy Forums), it was concluded that a main problem is corrupt files identified by the System Files checker.

This is the message I get when running the checker tool: “…found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them”. Checking the log, I searched for “cannot repair” but nothing comes up. Searching for “cannot” in the logs turns up some cases of “cannot verify component files for Microsoft-Windows-Security-Kerberos…”. Search for “corrupt” turns up nothing. Not sure what to do now. My computer is a Dell XPS 15 Z running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.

Anyone have any suggestions? Many thanks!

Run sfc/scannow at least 3 times in a row, rebooting after each run.

Hello bonobohead, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Please go ahead and upload a copy of your sfcdetails.txt report from OPTION THREE in the tutorial below. This will allow us to see the full results of only what SFC did.

Thanks for giving me a hand. The log is uploaded. This is after running the sfc/scannow three times, restarting each time, as suggested above. Each time it indicated there were corrupted files that could not be repaired.

This is the issue that SFC is unable to verify and repair for you. It most likely could be a cause for your network issue as well.

"Cannot verify component files for Microsoft-Windows-Security-Kerberos"

Unfortunately, I'm not sure how to fix this one without reinstalling Windows.
