Problem after running a maintenance program

Hey guys!!

After I've run maintenance program (not sure if it is ok to name it, but it got great reviews on various sites), registry and disk defrag my PC is snappier, but started rebooting for no reason... After some search on internet, I found out that these progs just make everything worse than before! So there was a restore point in that prog but didn't do much, and there is no restore point in Windows restore service... yeah now I know I should have made it

My question is, is there any may to check / scan / fix that mess with registry or do I need to perform a clean windows install?

You could start out by seeing if your system files became damaged or corrupt. Run a system file checker scan from an elevated command prompt (option two.) If problems are found, run the scan three times and reboot the computer immediately after each scan.

If still having problems you could try a repair install. This will try to fix your currently installed Windows 7 while preserving your user accounts, data, programs, system drivers, etc. You'll have to reinstall Windows Updates. The repair install takes about an hour and the updates at least that long.

A clean install would be the final option. The first tutorial would apply if your computer is a custom build without manufacturer installed bloatware. If your computer was manufacturered and came with factory installed bloatware (all those free trial programs, etc) then the second tutorial will show you how to get a superior clean install without the bloatware.

I tried to run CMD prompt scf scan, but something went wrong.. here is a screenshot of the scan, and the mentioned log is bigger tha 2mb so I can't upload it..

If running the scan 3 times doesn't fix things, Option Three of the SFC tutorial shows how to extract the cbs.log info as well as how to replace files that SFC cannot fix by using your Windows 7 installation disk. Personally, this is rather time consuming and I think it's easier and faster to go right to a repair install.

Make sure you read through the tutorial a couple of times to become familiar with it. Printing out a copy wouldn't be a bad idea either. If you have questions about any of the steps better to ask before starting the repair install.

Hey guys. thanks for the concern, really appreciate it!! But I guess I was too hasty and just did the fresh install of win7, over the old one, and after that cleaned up windows.old folder... At least everything is working ok for now, but thanks again and really glad to be able to count on you if something bad happens again (and I'm sure it will)

Is it necessary to do all those scans flash4 because, there might still be something left over from the old windows installation? I'll follow your step by step instructions this time all the way through, and won't do anything on my own :)
