Hey all i currently don't use the hibernate on windows 7 my power setting is balanced so hard disk turns off after 20 mins then 30 mins it goes into sleep basically wanting to know if i disable my hibernate file will it affect the computer going into sleep mode?
Note - My power setting is default on balanced
It's 100% safe because sleeping doesn't use the Hibernation file. Instead, it stores your session in the memory. So, the computer is not completely off in Sleep Mode because the memory is still being powered in order to keep your session in the memory. In Hibernation Mode, your session is put into the Hibernation file instead of memory and then the computer is completely powered off. So in Hibernation Mode, you could even unplug your power supply for a day, a week, a month, etc. and then plug it back in and you could still resume from Hibernation because your session was stored on the hard drive. So again in Sleep Mode, your session is stored in memory and therefore the power cannot be completely cut. It still needs about 2 or 3 watts to keep the memory "alive" (the memory is the only thing that's "on" in Sleep Mode).
