Went to what you said. No enhancements are enabled and im not using a sound card.

Bit in the dark about sound but all ive installed for that is VIA HD audio deck (latest version) which was originally in my mobo downloads section.

Doesn't do much as far as i can see, but i use it still as it allows me to use my monitor speakers along with another separate speaker with subwoofer on the same audio output.

Sorry didnt explain properly, same audio but using a different port for both outputs. VIA audio deck allows me to send the sound to both outputs instead of it automatically muting one assuming that one is headphones.

Another screenshot shows the plugplay service now at 0 (while music is still playing) however the service is still showing high CPU usage. I really dont understand how that works by the looks of it

It is now certain to say, that the keyboard doesnt seem to be the cause.. This only happens when music is being played.

It's one of your audio software that is causing it. Could me iTunes or another software .

Glad we are getting somewhere now.

I mostly play music from online BBC i Player so its not iTunes or WMP.

What about the VIA HD audio deck software? Apart from that i dont have anything else installed that changes any kind of audio settings.

As a test . We could uninstall that and see if that is the culprit . If not reinstall it .

Viola! It seems to be back to normal! Great CPU is around 1% while playing music for a while now.

So VIA HD audio deck was causing the Plug and Play service to misbehave. I thought that service was only in use for the USB ports but i guess im wrong.

Do you happen to know another software i can use in order to prevent plugging two 3.5mm ports in without it muting one?
