What exactly tells you it is the onboard display chip causing your problems?

What's also caused the PC to not boot now - the same display issue?

I know this has been an eternity, but I just got my computer back up after a final crash in July! Thought I would just let you know that it was not the graphics card that was at issue. I kept having different things go wrong and Asus finally decided it had to be the mobo. Took a while to get everything out off the board, send in, get back to me a new board and then reassemble with a few flares of my chronic illness interupting the process. Guess the good news is it only cost me postage for the board and I have a better-than-new computer...so all's working. I will have to give great kudos to everyone for trying to help, and would say Asus customer service is way awesome. Thanks all.

You are quite welcome. Glad to hear the good news of your being better.

Updates and set up are a pain, but a necessary evil.

Windows 7: Blank screen on boot up, before login screen; slow startup
After the Starting Windows screen a blank black screen with a cursor that I can move pops up that lasts a minute (shouldn't happen with SSD, used to be ~10 second boot). Afterwards the login screen will appear as normal and everything works as normal. This doesn't happen when I boot into safe mode....

Very long cold boot (10 minutes)
My machine seems to work just fine, but it does an odd thing that I don't understand: when booting after a power-down, the Windows 7 boot takes more than 10 minutes. I get the "Starting Windows" screen, and then there's 10 minutes of continuous disk activity, and then finally a login screen. It...

Every day I come home and boot up my computer, and every day it BSODs either instantly or within 10 minutes, once I restart it seems to be fine and will run for DAYS. Also seems like all of my last systems have been having the same problem, so possibly it's some of the hardware I have been...
