Display does not turn off when I close my laptop lid

Hello everyone, I recently purchased a solid state drive and did a fresh installation of Windows 7 Home Premium on my Asus K53E-B1 laptop. I've updated various drivers including the Intel Graphics Driver. I've changed my "lid close action" to "do nothing" as well. My laptop still is not able to turn off the display when I close the lid. Could anybody be of assistance to me?
    Thank you for your time.

Darkdragon88, recommend that you change the lid close to turn off display, it seems to me that you told it to do nothing.

The only options for Lid Close Action are: Do Nothing, Sleep, Hibernate, and Shut Down

    Hello Darkdragon88,

What happens when you set it to a setting other than "Do Nothing"?
