It seems to be a very rare problem. Thanks very much for trying to help me with it but not to ignore you or say you ain't good, on this forum, is it allowed to PM an MVP like Brink and ask him? I mean, is it impolite or wrong to so? I will try a repair. By the way, I saw the tutorial on repairing Brink posted and it seems to be a great tutorial. What is the difference between a startup repair and a repair install?

A startup Repair is used mostly if you are having problems that are preventing Windows from starting .... Repair Install is explained in the Tutorial ... You would need to do a backup though ... Which you state is not an Option

It should not change any of your programs .... But I always advise before making any changes to your system to do a backup

My drive is split in two partitions. C and D which are both 500GB One of them has installed Windows 7 and the other one is a backup of our old computer. The backup of the old computer is 14.2GB and I haven't got where to place 14.2GB because my old computer's power supply blew up 4 months ago.

Not really a good idea to have backups on a Drive you are using .... As it could fail .... External Drives are much better ... And not so expensive these days

By backup, do you mean backup of the whole computer or backup of just files, precious files like photos, documents and music. And by the way, thanks for replying very fast, it looks like we are chatting here

No worries :) I do regular backups maybe every two days .... But i do use my computer a lot .... I think you should Create a System Image if you have not already done so as-well as regular backups

If I am right, Windows 7 allows you to do a backup on a CD. I can do that!

Yes you are right it does .... I would not advise that though .... Reason being they are just to small would take so many and IMO are not that reliable

To be 100% honest I don't need any software backup. I need only a backup of the files on the second partition. I am too scared that the repair will fail or will not fix the problem. I don't know how I am going to do a backup, I really don't! I think that I will have to buy an external drive, at least for my own good!
