AVG can optimize a good system to a brick.

Care to explain how? Or link to a thread that discusses this? I'm intrigued!

After removing even more startup programs until only about 2-4 were left, and almost quartering the load on system startups by disabling background software with AVG PC Tuneup, this is what I got.

Well, 320s is certainly better than 476s, so I shaved about 2.6 minutes from my startup time. Aiming for under 100 seconds, though. Don't know what to do!

I would get rid of AVG PC Tuneup completely. You may want to google search how to do that, because from my experience, it is not as easy as Programs & Features > Uninstall. It is probably taking up resources, and even if you disabled every aspect of it you see, there is probably still something trying to startup in the background.

Yes boss, but it says that I have 18 programs disabled right now (to reduce system load), and they would be re-enabled after the uninstall is complete. Should I follow through with it?

Not knowing your PC specs, at that speed, it's unlikely any optimization would return expected speeds. Have you considered a clean install?

Windows 7 definitely doesnt need any "PC Optimizers" and sure as H**L an AVG product.Your startup items should have the option NOT to start with Windows and even if not,CCleaner does that "trimming down" with two and a half clicks,Tools-Startup and cut down even browser extensions.Consider a Clean insall as a very acceptable option,we all are struggling to cut down four or five seconds, not five minutes.
