    questions about if i need a paging file or not


    right now im running 12GB of ram in my computer do i really need a paging file/ virtual memory and what will the benifits be if i dont need it and inturn get rid of it ?

    Long story short - fix the size at 512mb least. This is because there are still programs which functions still require small amount of pagefile. And if there isn`t any they will BSOD the hell of your OS.

    Also remember that pagefile will be actually used only when a program wants to work with it. So in 99% of the time it will be just there.
    I personally have 16GB ram but I leaved 1GB as pagefile just in case.

    really sweet i have like 6 partitions on 1 hdd 1 ssd and 2 flash drives and the page file is windows set and its RAPING MY DRIVE spaces

    yeah i decided since i have 12gbs of ram i made it 1024mbs

    Provided you have enough RAM and aren't at risk of filling it up, no, you generally don't need a paging file.

    I recently reactivated mine, because there wasn't much of a reason for me to not use it, but for about a year I didn't use it to no ill effect.
