uploaded a saved log of current processes.
I'm noticing this
C:\Windows\Explorer.EXE
C:\Windows\explorer.exe
C:\Windows\explorer.exe
Right click on C:\Windows\Explorer.EXE and choose properties and see what the location is from . Or if you end task it does the Taskbar disappear
lm not seeing it in process explorer. or should l say lm not seeing one thats capitalised. a search of my windows dir does seem to show a few instances but all bare microsoft signatures by the looks of it and seem to match the crc of the original.
l will however keep an eye on process explorer to see if l notice anything.
well my current thoughts are about my own virus scanner.. lm wondering if when my issues with the explorer.exe usage could be occurring when bitdefender experiences a random blip in its scanning engine.
you see lve had bidfender virus shield randomly stop without warning a few times before, in addition to that when l have my mkv freeze problem (when it occurs which is entirely random like my above issues) if it relates to BD wanting to scan specific files which use certain codecs tho l cannot be sure since l do know it happens on specific files but l dont find a correlation always between what each file uses when l check codec information.
however with regards to the above explorer.exe you saw in the logs l have had BD a few times be the cause of a restart of explorer.exe when it happens and warns me that what lm trying to do was seen as suspect activity at those times lve been right clicking and deleting files rather than getting up and grabbing the keyboard lol.
at the moment however lve not heard back from BD so l might open a support ticket.
What if we uninstall BitDefender if the problem is fixed we know who was the culprit
Use Control Panel to uninstall BitDefender once done use the tool below for a clean uninstall.
Uninstall Bitdefender
ld rather get their opinion before l contemplate it. l recently extended protection and dont want to waste my subscription unless l know its definitely the issue.. at the second its just purely speculation based upon the fact the virus shield has stopped running a few times.. usually starting the service back up fixes it. if that makes sense.
either way if my system runs fine until my next reinstall in a few months l guess ld be happy.. tho in retrospect maybe its a result from when l last reinstalled.. l had a little crash when installing programs l forget which one it was tho the mkv issue started some point after that and explorer issue is more recent.
OP, is that MKV files on a hard drive that the OS is not on, and getting a few secs pause just at the start?
Could be latency from parking the SATA hard drive to actually loading, I have my other HDs sleeping after about 20 mins of non-use, and just waking up is a couple sec lag, even on my speedy system, otherwise, but that protects the HD from wearing out prematurely. [just a thought] :)
VK running you through all those apps, I had to snag all the ones I was unfamiliar with....
I am considering BitDefender for my next anti-virus/malware solution per avtest.org, what are you saying VK?
Faladu
BitDefender its ranked on the top 10 of AV software . It is a good antivirus .
By the way congrats to your A+ certification .
