PC slow (humming sound/video) after awake from sleep

I just upgrade my pc from XP to Windows 7 Pro. 64. I have a strange issue, whenever the pc is awake from sleep it became very slow in general, also when I play a video file (YouTube or Local) it has a humming sound and slow response (Lagged) video. I have already updated my audio and video drivers. Before the OS upgrade I never have this strange issue. Any solution? Thanks

What browser are you using and is the hum on every single video?

Better specify which video and audio drivers you are using, as well, since it's an older video card, I would only use the one from the manufacturer's web site as official.

Have you installed the chipset driver for the motherboard? That's probably the issue.

Gateway's site probably is of no help, since that system was built for XP.

What you can do is use cpu-z from cpuid.com to determine the actual motherboard brand and model and then look for a driver for it, instead.

That's the trouble with older hardware: drivers....

This includes the HD controller as well, that might be using 7's generic one at this point.

I am on latest ie10 and Firefox 22. I believe the video choppy and audio humming when playing any videos is caused by overall slowness of the pc (after awake from sleep), the only remedy is to do a restart. Today for the first time when I restart it caused a blue screen (REGISTRY_ERROR), after I reboot to safe mode I ran Advance System Care and it appears to fixed the blue screen issue.

I did got my video and audio drivers from Gateway site, using the driver for Vista. I will take you advise and download cpu-z to update chipset driver.

Do I need to update the BIOS and where I can get it.

Thanks

BIOS wise, only if you find out there is a newer one and in the notes for it, it mentions issue you are having, otherwise it's avoid BIOS updates for the most part and here is why....

IT RESETS ALL YOUR SETTINGS to defaults, and the typical user will not want to deal with that, especially when considering the first statement.

Where to find, probably Gateway's web site for that specific model, mainly because the OEM boards generally don't have support direct to consumers from the actual board maker, have to go through the 'brand'.
