Variable SLEEP behavior.

Just when I thought the problem was solved, it's started again. I did a full Shutdown yesterday for the first time in 3 weeks to blow the dust out. I powered up fine. Last night, I put it to Sleep. This morning it took 2+ minutes to waken it, which I was able to do by tapping the keyboard. Sure enough, the "allow this device to wake up the computer" field was checked in in the Keyboard Power Mgmt, even though I had unchecked it 3 weeks ago. I literally haven't touched any drivers or made ANY changes in the meantime. What gives?

Have you ran any command like SFC /SCANNOW or carried out any repairs?

I would change it back to the setting you had before, and then see if it happens again. Sorry for the slow reply.

Did you do a restart after you made the change 3 weeks ago?
If not, I would make the change, reboot, and make sure the change is "sticking" after a reboot.

You can also run SFC /SCANNOW.
If there are no problems, it won't hurt anything.
If there are problems, they should get fixed so you don't have system problems that can do "who knows what".

I periodically run SFC, just to check for system issues that may somehow creep in over time...
I also don't reboot often, but I do at least once a month for Patch Tuesday updates.

SFC /SCANNOW ran without finding any problems, and the keyboard power mgmt box is still unchecked through a reboot.

Ok, so it is working correctly at the moment, after the "immediate" reboot, right?
If that's the case, I would use the PC normally, and reboot after say a few days or a week.
Check to see if it is still set correctly, or if some program or process has changed it again.
Hopefully it is fixed now, and will stay set the way you want it.

No, it is still taking 1:50 minutes to "wake up", and 1:10 minutes to "boot up". Up until the current episode it took 10 seconds to "wake up".

Re-reading this thread you have two issues, right?
1) The wake up time takes too long.
2) The setting to not allow the keyboard to wake the PC did not "stick".

My last suggestions/comments were in regards to the Keyboard waking the PC issue.

For the slow wake up time you might try using the trace suggested in Post #12.

Just an update: After a week of slow wake ups, I installed the monthly MS updates, rebooted, and put the machine to sleep last night. This morning it woke up in 10 secs! I'll run the trace eventually if this gets too annoying. Thanks.
