    It will work out for you, much better than a reinstall. Read Tom's instructions carefully and don't miss a step...like I did the first time.
    Thanks very much. The Windows Update Package Replacement procedure looks kind of scary to me - I don't want to mess anything up. I will follow Tom's instructions.

    Hi Tom!!

    Have a great New Year! The same goes for Britton30, Bill and dbseven.

    Just want to make you aware the there are two individuals posting here, one is the OP, artmanphoto (Bill), and the second is dbseven, which --->> needs to start his own topic. <<---

    Looks as if you opened the two .zip reports, and they do not belong to the Original Poster, Bill. The priority goes to him. He started this topic!

    --->> Bill, please hold off until Tom confirms what he wants you to do!!

    OK, I will wait for Tom to confirm what he wants me to do.

    Thanks, Bill

    Glad you got this in time, Bill.

    As Tom forewarned:
    Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own

    It appears he used reports that were not yours!!

    By the look of things, it looks like I'm the one who needs to read the logs carefully!

    Hey Cottonball,

    Happy New Year to you, and all the others, too!

    Thank you so, so much for picking up on this! What would I do without you? I have no idea how I managed to do that, but we've managed to avert the crisis now - fortunately it wouldn't have actually caused any harm, it will have just fixed files that didn't need to be fixed.

    Hi Bill,

    I'm so sorry about that! I've never done anything like that before, but I assure you it won't happen again.

    Okay, now I'm actually reading the right logs, I can see the problems. While parsing the CBS log to sfcdetails.txt makes it nice and easy to read, it actually cuts out some of the crucial information I need to be able to fix this so before we can continue, I'll need a copy of your full CBS log:

    C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

    Copy this to your Desktop, zip it up and attach it to your next post please!

    Bill,

    I believe this is what Tom wants you to do next:

    How do you fix corrupted files found by SFC /SCANNOW?

    SFC Scan

    Nope :) He's already done a scan, I just need the full CBS logs to see the log.

    Well, it is my turn to goof up!!

    The score (strikes) is:
    Britton30 = 1
    Cottonball = 1
    Tom = 1

    Bill, you are the only one that is doing OK!

    Welcome to Seven forums GerbenB. I will ask the mods to make this a new thread for you, it's the right forum though. :)
