Full CPU usage for no obvious reason
Hi,
First of all I apologize if this is in the wrong thread I was in two minds where to post it as i'm not 100% sure what my problem is.
Here it goes; For the past month or so my PC has been going crazy, in the sense that when I play music whether it be through my browser or media player/itunes. The sound crashes and and then my CPU rockets up I know this because I have a CPU meter gadget on my desktop and I see on the graph it is very irregular always at the highest peak of usage.
This can occur at any time, even as as I googled 'Seven forums' my PC lagged like crazy and the mouse cursor was moving many second after I moved my mouse. This mainly happens when I am playing music and/or using my webcam on Skype whilst talking to friends. I thought it was a flash player bug as I found that on google I tried downgrading it and that didn't work I then changed browsers from Firefox to Chrome, but to no avail.
I checked the 'Performance' tab under task manager and It shows also in the graph the CPU usage is at it's highest and the % of usage is usually 99%, it also tells me I have 1.72GB of memory. Also checked the resource manager various times and under the CPU tab I see multiple processes can vary at being at the top of the list, A few on these are 'Avastsvc.exe' 'Perfmon.exe' 'system interrupts' also flash player and firefox have been at the top a lot when I was using that browser. I'm sorry if i'm vague but this really isn't an area I am familiar with.
My system specs are here:
Any help would be appreciated, thank you
