Yes trying the adapter on another PC will help to see if you got a bad one. It is a good one but new parts can be bad.

Damn. In frustration I deleted the partition. The PC is a i5 8Gb Ram Gygabyte MB 6 months old. It used to work fine. But I dont sit at it much.

The adapter is new Belkin 150 wireless USB adaptor. N150 Wireless USB Adapter | USB Adapters | Wireless | Networking | Products | Belkin Australia Site

    Are you saying its crap?

I'll plug it into mine later today & test it God willing.
I use all Belkin adapters for two desktop machines and they work great but they have different speed adapters and from time to time they update drivers. If this rig was fast and is now slow with all the same stuff then either the signal is compromised to the rig all of a sudden, the usb adapter has developed a problem or something on the PC is competing with the adapter. I would remove and re-install the latest driver for this Belkin adapter and report back to us if it improved things. Also Belkin has great....and I mean great free 24x7 tech support just FYI !

Damn. In frustration I deleted the partition.
I have an extra problem now.

    1. Cannot re-install Windows in Cdrive partition.

The selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems Win7 can only be installed on GPT disks.
I formatted over the Cdrive with the Win7 installation CD b4 attempting re-install. How do I fix this?

There is no Win 7 there anymore to repair. The partition has been re-formatted. The problem is the Windows 7 CD formatted the partition NOT in GPT mode.

Reformat the drive to a MBR partition.
