Taskbar icon won't move to another position?

Made a Revouninstaller shortcut icon and placed it on my desktop. Then renamed the Revouninstaller icon to Revo, and pinned it to the taskbar. The position it took was that of the last icon in the row (far right, just before the System Tray starts). However, when trying to drag/drop into another taskbar position, it jumped right back to its original position. How can i move it to where it want it to reside?

Remove it from the taskbar and pin the original .exe icon to the taskbar, and don`t rename it.

OK, removed from taskbar. Tried to drag the .exe to taskbar, didn't work. Right clicked the .exe (in Windows Explorer) and best I could do was to create a desktop shortcut (content menu had no choice for pinning). Renamed the shortcut Revo (my understanding is that Windows doesn't like something with "uninstaller." Right clicked and selected pin to taskbar. This time the icon wasa gain at the end, but I could move to another chosen position. Now have the icon where i want it. Strange that it should now work whereas I did the exact same thing and it didn't work???
