    Sudden Slowdown When Starting Up

For the past ten days it seems to take forever for my PC to startup. What can I look for? I went into msconfig but confused about what to do. I see a lot of items in the "services" tab but not sure if I should fool with them.

This just started up about ten days ago and I cannot relate it to anything except possible a Windows update.

Windows 7, IE 10 and plenty of HD space and memory

Barnum in msconfig I disable all but the security in the Start up tab and in the Boot tab > Advanced options I make sure the number of processors and memory are both unticked.

Run these too mate if you haven't already

Unfortunately none of these fixes helped...I did get he message in scannow that it could fix some corrupt files. I do not have a disk either ....my pc came with windows installed. I am just curious why this started happening. Maybe I need to try a system restore I am beginning too think that Windows update doe more harm that good.

Ok Barnum mate try he restore but make sure the updates are set to not auto update and just let you know they are available so that you can pick the ones you want. See my pic it is on my 8 laptop but the settings are the same in 7.
After that if you are considering a reinstall there is an easy way to do that without the need for any media as such.

A startup/repair may be the next best step.

Startup repair did not help. I am using IE10 and Norton 360.
