Can't get chkdsk to run...
I need to run chkdsk /F on my system (C) drive, and thus far I've been thwarted. I've tried two ways:This is on a laptop running Win 7/Pro.
- In windows explorer, right click drive C and select properties > tools > Error checking. A window pops up and I keep the default (Automatically fix file system errors) checked. When I click Start is advises that this will be set to run upon the next system start (I've read elsewhere that it will start before the GUI code is loaded). However, it never works!
- In command prompt mode (both in non-administrator mode and as run-as-administrator) I've entered >chkdsk /F -- and in both cases it advises that the next Windows starts the utility will run; yet it does not.
Any ideas?
