C Drive getting used up with out storing anything ?

C drive is my default drive for windows installation.

Until a week ago, C Drive used to show up free space from 46.x GB to 47.x GB, some times it may show free space up to 50 or 51GB too.

But since a week or 2, the space has fallen back to 45.5 GB, now its in the range of 44.2GB - 46.6 GB free space.

I haven't saved anything directly on C Drive. I store my files, folders, mp3's in other drives.

Can I know why this is happening ? Is this normal ?
I have scanned to check up may be there's any malware or virus, nothing showed up.

    Hello goodland,

You might see if going through the items in the tutorial below may be able to help ID what's using up your hard drive space, and if you may be able recover or adjust how much it's using.

Hard Disk Space - Free Up and Recover

Hope this helps for now, :)

Shawn, I just wanted to update that... I had installed TreeSize software to check up where the space was going. I noticed Downloads folder was the one, that ate up 13.5gb where as in real the folder showed me just 1.6gb usage. This folder is used by Free Download Manager software, apparently it looked like all the incomplete downloads had space reserved whether the download was stopped & deleted or what ever. So, I cleaned up all those stuff & I was able to save 12GB

Great news. Wow, that's a lot of space to be taken up for something like that.

yeah it indeed is Shawn. I was shocked at first, I was a little scared to remove those files at first as I feared, it may screw up any other script but thankfully no harm done

May be you can put this up in tutorial or some where to look into Downloads folder or what ever folder FDM users have used, to check if its eating up space through Treesize Software or any other script which could determine the size of the folder - in case some one faces same issues like me :)
