cannot view pdf on web

    cannot view pdf on web


    windows 7, 64 bit, IE 11. cannot view pdf on web. enabled in manage add ons. display pdf enabled or checked in preferences in reader. have uninstalled, then reinstalled, then rechecked these settings. what else to do to view?

    Click on the Gear Icon, select Internet Options.
    Click on Programs tab.
    Click Set Programs button.
    Scroll down to .pdf and set Adobe Reader as the program.

    Is that so for all browsers. Chrome is usually good at that. Here you can test it with one of my own links.

    now I click the url with the pdf, its a blank page. the indicator pops up, 'do you want to open or save', I click open, and nothing happens. even on this site, next to reply, reply with quote, etc, all have the same little black box with white x in it. reader was set as default for .pdf.

    I run vipre internet security so I'm looking thru those settings also

    Try Chrome. That is usually the most responsive.

    the x is gone that I was getting. it seems I have another problem. same white screen. the box pops up to open or save. open, nothing happens. save, it states that the pdf cannot be downloaded. I did try to download chrome as a test, but same result. open doesn't do anything. now what

    I only have ie. when I clicked download for firefox, the prompt appeared to open or save the file. clk open, nothing happens. same now for the pdf I want to view.

    I guess you need a portable browser for the interim to stay operational. Here is one Chrome option, but there are portable Firefox and others. Just be careful from which site you get it. Don't immediately run - just save it first and scan for malware.
