so now I was able to download firefox after resetting IE. I can view pdf with firefox, but not with IE. i'll use FF for now, but I really want this to work in IE11. pls adv if any answers come on this. thank you.
There are 3 possibilities:
1. Run sfc /scannow in an elevated command prompt - that 'may' fix it.
2. Next weapon would be Startup Repair
3. if you have IE9 or IE10, then you can upgrade to IE11. But if you already have IE11, then this option is out.
I have run the file checker with no violations. i'll try start up repair, but if firefox can view, seems like a problem isolated to IE11. we will give a shot anyway, not leaving anything out.
Did you check to see if Adobe was the default for .pdf files as I mentioned in post #2? You didn't mention if you did or not.
Mr. Kent, one of my user's had the same problem in Acrobat X Std. and I fixed it. Here's what I did, see if you have the same settings in Reader.
Open Acrobat, Click on Edit > Preferences > Scroll down to Internet then uncheck Display PDF in browser, click ok and reboot. This is what worked for my user. Let us know what happens.
