Odd Sleep Problem
Well, of course this problem is odd: After all, it happens to me....
I've had sleep problems in the past, which have usually been due to an unsolved failure of Home Group to find an existing printer. Based on that, starting last Saturday, I pursued that when my computer would not go to sleep .
The scenario: Computer went to sleep, as set in Power Options for two hours, Friday night, and, as set in SuperAntiSpyware, awakened at 0545 local, ran the daily scan, and computer went back to sleep. I woke it manually later, did my usual morning computing; over three hours later, machine was awake. I ran the Home Group troubleshooter, which did not report any printer problems, just the usual need to refresh Home Group, which had been done.
Having reset Sleep to three minutes, to test it, I found the computer still would not sleep, so restarted it. As it still would not go to sleep, I restarted it a second time, which fixed the problem. Sunday, same problem arose again, except that I only needed to restart once; this was also the case Monday.
Today, again, computer asleep previous night, woke for SuperAntiSpyware, went back to sleep. After my morning computing, machine was awake after more thana three hours since I had last used it. Instead of running the Home Group troubleshooter, I reset sleep to three minutes, restarted, computer went to sleep. I then ran the troubleshooter, which updated Home Group. Apparently, Home Group has not been the problem with sleep the last four days, as the previous printer problem never arose when running the troubleshooter.
Thus, I have no clue as to what is causing the latest sleep malady. Magic potions, incantations, sleep-inducing poetry, even computer-related suggestions are all welcome.
