Sony Vegas 12 Cpu render just as fast as Gpu render?? o.O

hi... So i have been playing around in sony vegas with some settings and found out that if you render with the cpu it takes 4 Minutes to get to 11% on a 15Min video (full video takes 34 mins )
And the Gpu render takes 4:11 minutes to get to 11%

Why is this? The gpu render should be waaay faster.. I've seen people with the GTX 660 get times like 10 Min video takes 5Min to render but for me it takes 20Min to render a 10Min video???
i do not know if this is a software or hardware issue becouse when maxing my cpu to 100% my psu goes bananas so my cpu needs to force shut down 2 cores and my cpu can only work at 80% instead of 100%
Is this something that can effect this?

    Specs:
    GTX 660
    FX 8350 4.0Ghz

Do you still need assistance with this issue?

yes and no. Sony vegas doesent crash anymore but it takes 20 minutes for a 15min video to render. When a guy with the same gpu and a slower cpu rendered faster than 15 minutes on higher quality

It may be due to having Intel instead of AMD CPUs, I'm just guessing. Intel systems, from the 2nd generation at least seem to do some things faster than AMD systems with higher clock speeds. It can also be whether one is using DX11 or not and PCIe 2.0 or PCIe3.0 too. Lots of variables to consider other that the same GPU or CPU.

The motherboard also can play a big part in how fast some processes run with otherwise identical hardware.

Ok.. But still Sony vegas is a heavy Multi core program and therefore my 8 core 4ghz cpu should really shine there but it doesent... Kinda weird. His 3570K For some reason did it better even if that cpu has less cores and lower core speeds

It's not all dependent on cores or speeds. Intel has different instruction sets and a better architecture. Years ago it was just the reverse, AMD kicked Intel's butt.
You might get better results with a newer AMD APU, Accelerated Processing Unit.

I went from AMD PhenomII X4 965 to Intel i5-2550K and everything on a daily use basis goes much faster. I don't do much video stuff, but the Photoshop and CorelDraw projects go much faster.

Oh well. Its still faster than my old laptop.. The weird thing is that when i did use opencl there sony vegas render just FLEW in speed. But with my GTX 660 there is no difference what so ever in render speeds. And my laptop has an AMD A8 quad 1.9Ghz 2.4Ghz turbo..
And it used the intergrated gpu Amd 7640

According to your My System Specs, you have Win8.
Since this is a forum for Win7, you might try...

They might be better suited to help you.
