    Event Error 100 Slow Boot

    Hi,

(I'm a newbie on here, so I am open to suggestions on improving my posts.)

Despite an impressive machine spec (which I think you can view in my profile?), my Windows 7 PC takes over 2 minutes to get to the CTRL-ALT-DEL login prompt, then about another minute to give me a usable desktop once I have logged in. When I first got it, it booted in about ten seconds. I have installed a lot of stuff since, but, short of starting from scratch and trying to identify what has slowed down the boot, I don't know how to identify the problem.

I have tried running xbootmgr and viewing the results with xperf, but no single item seemed to stand out (though admittedly I found the report to be way too complicated).

Can anyone please suggest anything I might try that doesn't require me to spend a month learning about Windows internals first? I don't mind putting in some effort with this problem - I don't expect a free solution - but xperf seems to require a lot of very specialised knowledge.

Any help at all would be very much appreciated.

    Kind wishes ~ Patrick

    No Change Really

Tried most of that. Nothing seemed to have any real effect. I could start disabling startup stuff more aggressively, but, to be honest, everything that starts now is actually stuff I use. I'd expect a machine of this spec to handle this. My gut tells me there is an anomaly somewhere in the boot process, but I just don't have a month to play about with it.

    Thanks anyway.

One thing i would suggest is to download; install, and run the following programs to scan for Adware, malware, and spyware:

    Downloading AdwCleaner

Malwarebytes : Thank you for download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware

    SUPERAntiSpyware - Downloading File

Doing this should help to get rid of any unwanted junk that may be slowing down your system. Try these programs out and post back if you need to. We are here to help

    No Luck

I tried the first two of those, and they didn't find anything. Couple of cookies - that's about it. In view of the results with the first two, I didn't try SuperAntiSpyware. I don't believe I have a virus or malware, because I have always had anti-virus software installed and I am generally very careful about what I click on.

    Thanks anyway.

    Kind wishes ~ Patrick
