Hard Drive seems to be filling up on its own.

My hard drive is steadily filling up even though I'm not doing anything that should be filling it that fast. Every day I look at it it is a another 3 - 4 gb full.

Is there a way to see what has been most recently downloaded so I can figure out what is filling up?

The past few days I haven't done anything on the computer except basic web browsing. It is connected to a dropbox account and google drive, but it still doesn't make sense that 3 - 4gb gets filled up every day does it? My laptop is connected to those same dropbox and google drive accounts and it isn't filling up.

    Hi,
A couple of things you can check,
Click Start and type in the search box,
    msconfig
Hit Enter or click on the suggestion,
    Startup section take screen shots,
Services section on the bottom left Check the box to Hide all Microsoft services,
    take more screen shots,
See the link above my signature on how to take and upload screen shots if you need to,
    Cheers.

A very often overlooked reason for drive space reduction is backups.

I had a similar problem a while back and discovered that there was a bug in Google Earth that failed to remove data from a temporary file in the User folder on drive C:. As a consequence it got bigger every time I used the program.

I solved the problem by uninstalling Google Earth using Revo unninstaller ( this ensures that all related files are also removed). I then reinstalled a more recent version that was free of the bug.

Interesting I just downloaded Google Earth about a month ago.

Norton Antivirus uses all my memory

I have had the same problems for weeks now, and finally I did a scan on my computer just now to see where all the memory is used. I used Tree Size Free TreeSize Free - Quickly Scan Directory Sizes and Find Space Hogs to see this (very quick and easy).

Anyway, most of my hard disk is now used by the Norton Antivirus software on my computer. I had set the system to do a security backup of my files. It was set to do the backup to my C: drive, and it seems as if it never deletes old backups, but just fills up with new files all the time. N360_BACKUP actually uses 301 GB of my total drive of 451,1 GB. Crazy...... I would never have thought of that.

So now I am in the process of trying to get rid of all these old files. Stupid Norton, I hope to get some space back on my hard disk!! Only have 1 GB available....
