Does windows 7 really improve battery life?!

So I have a quick question. Does windows 7 really improve the battery life on a laptop? Anyone noticed much of a difference?

    Yes by about 10%.
Your mileage may vary. Note this TechRadar article, Windows 7 Shames Vista on Battery Life where it correctly states,
If a notebook runs Windows Vista, it will run Windows 7 and it will get better battery life... . But PC manufacturers and device suppliers are also going to have to do their part to make a big difference to power consumption on new notebooks.
Bottom line, MUCH depends on the hardware's power saving features.

I don't see any significant difference on battery life. I have a netbook with a 128gb SSD and the battery meter calculation is the same.
