Com surrogate/ Dllhost.exe starts consuming high Memory

    Com surrogate/ Dllhost.exe starts consuming high Memory


    I have been having this serious problem with browsing with windows explorer. As soon as I open any folder & scroll down, com surrogate shows up in Windows Task Manager and starts consuming memory. It won't stop consuming memory even if I close all opened windows. After a while if I try to open any folder I see blank icons and windows becomes painfully slow. Only way out from this madness is ending the process of Com surrogate from Windows Task Manager.

    FYI, I have temporarily fixed this issue by disabling thumbnail mode from performance settings, but thumbnails are really helpful for browsing through Photos and Videos. So, I am looking for a permanent solution where I can have thumbnails without the Com surrogate issue.Please help.

    Sounds to me you have installed something that uses explorer. Com Suurogate and DLLhost is something a lot of third-party applications use. Try using Process Explorer to find out what both problem processes are loading: Process Explorer

    I did and it doesn't show any other programs. Have a look at the attached pic.

    You have to do more then just look at it, right-click on it in Process Explorer and looking into properties. First try looking into the "Command Line" value.
